MISSION STATEMENT
Storybook Skies, Inc is a student created and student run 501(c)(3) status non-profit organization that aids students in need of help outside of the United States. Our mission is to focus our support towards one country each year; through extensive research on where our help is needed most, we aim to create relief with a focus on students and their needs. Our mission is to create a world where everyone has a storybook ending.
HISTORY
Storybook Skies was founded by two high school students, Jenny Zha and Melissa Parker, on March 2nd, 2010. Both of us had one goal embedded in our heads--to make a difference. With this in mind, we cast about for a way to achieve our goal and decided to create Storybook Skies Foundation, an organization dedicated to relieving impoverished students in other countries of their hardships. Being students ourselves, we knew the trials and stress of education. We saw that so many children had it much worse and decided instead of worrying about our own problems, we should help others with theirs.
However, our task wasn't an easy one: due to our age and the legal restriction of being minors, there were a lot of difficulties we had to overcome. Many people were skeptical of our mission and even laughed when we mentioned our dreams. Some people refused to help us altogether, citing that it is impossible for students to run and create a nonprofit organization legally. After one year of struggle, we have successfully incorporated Storybook Skies, Inc, and have created the Storybook Skies Foundation you see today. However, we still have a lot of plans that we hope to fulfill, but a lot of obstacles still stand in our way. With your help, we hope to achieve our dream, step by step--because we have never given up hope that everyone in this world, no matter what race, what gender, what religion they practice, deserves a storybook ending.
